Lyrics & meaning to 'Just To Be Me' by Steve Christopher

It's about time, I made a statement
sitting on my own with my guitar
and I've tried writing songs about the future
dreaming about the possibility of being a star
Writing this song comes so natural
People yelling this songs the best
and I know I must keep my feet
firmly on the ground
To be true, to be free, just to be me

As time goes by
I hear the difference
the truth about what I've said
comes into it's own
Writing this song comes so natural
People yelling this songs the best
and I know I must leep my feet
firmly on the ground
To be true, to be free, just to be me
I've become a prisoner of everything I've ever believed
Now the truth belies the facts I perceived

What I find hard to say face to face,
seems to be so much easier when I write a song.
You can read my loving thoughts at your own pace, hopefully we're gonna be around for a long long time.
Writing this song comes so natural
People yelling this songs the best
and I know I must leep my feet
firmly on the ground
To be true, to be free, just to be me

*I've become a prisoner of everything I've ever believed
Now the truth belies the facts I perceived*
*REPEAT*

"Just to be me" is a bit of an insight into the huge range of emotions that effect everyday life of a writer. On the one hand you have to try to create an invisible cuccoon around you to allow you to experience, recall and write about that. On the other hand you have to try to live within the expectations of those around you, in other words live a double life giving yourself completely to both..
