Gloom for 2012?. No way!

I sincerely hope that the harbingers of gloom are wrong about 2012. There are some, utilising different dates and for varying reasons, that say the end is Nigh. Well for me, I'm thinking it's the beginning.

March / April is the Chosen target for release of Album number 2. Which, as I've briefly outlined, is far and away some of the best stuff I've written. All the songs, ARE songs. I've invited a number of guest vocalists to help out and I'm humbled and amazed at how many musicians have pledged their all to the project.

Before all the tracks are completed and named a chosen few of the tracks will be PRE-RELEASE uploaded to iTunes etc.

There will be opportunities to win free C.D's, which will be autographed by ALL the performers.

Plus, Choices of Artwork for the album will be periodically displayed on Ace Megarex and Steve Christopher Facebook pages and and you'll be asked to vote for your favourite.

Now for news of Live performances.

For the first time in many years, my original music will be publically aired. Never before will these songs have been played live. I can tell you that I will be more nervous than you can possibly imagine. I've played in many bands, some original but not my songs, some covers but only one previous band was I mainly responsible for the writing. Lorelei, which based in Berkshire boasted some success during the 80's.  One of the other guitarists of Lorelei (Longest serving member apart from me) Andy Bierschenk has come out of retirement to supply the harmony guitar parts that feature in many of my songs. This is where the excitement begins. I can't wait.

New of other sections of the band will be released as the weeks go by. I could tell you who the bass player is and the percussionist (Drummer) is but I'll save that for the next posting.

Finally, I will just say, without You, None of this would be happening. You guys have supported me so much and with all my heart I hope I don't let you down.

Steve xxxx

Rather like a duck.. On the surface, everything seems calm and easy going but below the surface it's all action. I've been writing but not as prolifically as last year. I have enough songs (yes songs) for an allbum but I want to be in a position to nitpic the best ones to ensure thequality of the number two album.

Moondance is still selling well and I could'nt be more proud when I get feedback from you guys and even though my first attempt, I know you want more vocal tracks. So.....

At this point my favourite track is Partay on Til Dawn, therefore it seems most likely to be the title track. But watch this space.

Literally as the album is released (Beginning of December fingers corssed) I will upload samples for your guys to listen to. Also I'll be adding bonus tracks for the first 200 CD's

Don't forget to keep an eye on Reverbnation, to see how the charts are going. and on facebook for live thoughts.

I think of you when I write. xxx

Lyrics & meaning of 'MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE by Steve Christopher

Murder in the First Degree :

Wide open spaces
so far away
too many faces
insist on getting their own way
People controlling,
like I'm under a spell
difficult breathing,
forced to live in a shell
CHORUS
Why do we let the suits survive and hide amongst the trees
When will we learn not to let them hide so they murder in the first degree
Let's not be victims,
stand up for what is right
lets stand together
put the bad to right
Guitar Solo
Don't let them fool you
into thinking you were wrong
they hold us to ransom
they don't want us to be strong
CHORUS
*Wide open spaces
so far away
too many faces
and they murder in the first degree*
*REPEAT*

The lyrics to "Murder" are based on the fact that "money men" and their vassels, are the harbingers of misery. The rules for banking seems to be make as much money as you can to the detriment of everyone else. As the current "Credit Crunch" displays only too well. when the banks get it wrong, even those they have bled dry are made to bleed more.

Lyrics & meaning to 'Just To Be Me' by Steve Christopher

It's about time, I made a statement
sitting on my own with my guitar
and I've tried writing songs about the future
dreaming about the possibility of being a star
Writing this song comes so natural
People yelling this songs the best
and I know I must keep my feet
firmly on the ground
To be true, to be free, just to be me

As time goes by
I hear the difference
the truth about what I've said
comes into it's own
Writing this song comes so natural
People yelling this songs the best
and I know I must leep my feet
firmly on the ground
To be true, to be free, just to be me
I've become a prisoner of everything I've ever believed
Now the truth belies the facts I perceived

What I find hard to say face to face,
seems to be so much easier when I write a song.
You can read my loving thoughts at your own pace, hopefully we're gonna be around for a long long time.
Writing this song comes so natural
People yelling this songs the best
and I know I must leep my feet
firmly on the ground
To be true, to be free, just to be me

*I've become a prisoner of everything I've ever believed
Now the truth belies the facts I perceived*
*REPEAT*

"Just to be me" is a bit of an insight into the huge range of emotions that effect everyday life of a writer. On the one hand you have to try to create an invisible cuccoon around you to allow you to experience, recall and write about that. On the other hand you have to try to live within the expectations of those around you, in other words live a double life giving yourself completely to both..

Lyrics & meaning to 'Too Loud For Love' by Steve Christopher

Take me along to the best place to go,
I need to ask somebody, someone who knows.
Does she love me, tease me, please me,
am I her victim or a long term bo.
Deas she really listen to my every word, or
does she really think of me as too absurd to love.

It's taken time but my confidence is shot,
it ain't been easy to remember when it's not.
Does she need me, read me, leave me
is she my lover, is she content or not.
Deas she really listen to my every word, or
does she really think of me as too absurd to love

I put all my efforts into making her smile,
I feel I'm missing by a country mile,
Does she love me, please me, squeeze me,
does she want some discepline or just to let go.
Does she want a guy who oozes out affection
or does she really want someone to lock her in detention

I'm just the kind of guy to put up with games
not my idea of fun to put up with pain
Does she love me need me plead me
is she out for vengeance or just out for gain
*Does she really want me or is cos I'm there,
does she have a long term plan or is she really scared of love*. -
REPEAT

This song refers to how passion can turn to confusion and affect a relationship when not given time to settle and mature. Every relationship should be allowed to grow at it's own pace, not be cornered and battered into submission unitl it's too late to give root to the reasons the relationship began...   Heavy!!.

In This World (words & meaning of)

Lyrics to In this World by Steve Christopher

It's the same old story,
Never mind the names are not the same,
Nothing ever changes, not her mind, nor the ones who are telling lies.
Was a time when I believed,
Everything she ever told me
Just goes to how how easy life can bite yer when you're feeling down.
CHORUS.
I- I - I, Looked for love but I did'nt succeed,
Maybe,Keep my mind on other things in this world.
I'll keep doing my best,
my head held high, dignity in tact
One day it'll pay off and I'll get the sort of things I've been dreaming of.
CHORUS - Guitar lead
Don't normally get like this,
seems odd how she got to me
Gotta be a way to shake these blues from my head and start again
Now you know my story,
never mind the names are not the same
Nothing ever changes, nor her mind nor the ones who are telling lies.
CHORUS

When writing this song, I was reflecting on how each split becomes a little easier than the last as you have similarities that can be attributed to previous mistakes. Unfortunately, we can all be guilty of making the same ones over and over.
